Marc PhillipsGroove Daddy features Marc Phillips on lead vocals and keyboards. A former leader and co-founder of the band "Hotel" Marc is the owner of Airwave Recording Studio in Birmingham where he has produced, played and sang on many of the radio and TV spots you've heard over the years. He has also been busy producing a wide variety of recordings for both secular and Christian recording artists.

Among Marc's many accomplishments as a life-long music professional are having played or performed with Hall and Oates, The Little River Band, Toto, Bob Dylan, America, The Dixie Dregs, Levon Helm (of The Band), Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Stephen Stills, Chick Coreas' Electric Band, Danny Seraphine and Bill Champlin of Chicago, Nigel Olsen and Dee Murray of the Elton John Band, and Brother Cane. Marc also covers keys for Rick and Bubba's band, Mr. Lucky. In 2003, Marc released his first solo c.d. titled "Color Me His" and is currenting putting together a soon to be released Christmas compilation.


Steve SamplePerched on the yellow Gretsch drum kit is Steve Sample. In addition to being active for years both in live venues and in the local studio scene, Steve has played or performed with a vast array of artists including familiar names such as Chuck Berry, Bo Didley, Percy Sledge, Dizzy Gillespie, Mose Allison, Bob Hope, Joan Rivers, Peter Wolf, Lou Marini, Lew Soloff, Bill Watrous, Bella Reese, Jack Albertson, Bill Champlin, Gerry Mulligan, James Moody, Buddy DeFranco, Tommy Dorsey and Jimmy Dorsey. Steve also toured Japan with The Glen Miller Orchestra playing 32 concerts in 30 days in 25 different cities.

Also, along with bandmate and close friend, Marc Phillips, Steve performs with Rick and Bubba's band, Mr. Lucky.



Barry Page
Barry Page plays bass and is a veteran of both the live and studio landscape in the area. Among the many artists that have been fortunate enough to have him along are Candi Staton, Phil Driscoll, Paradox and The Shirells. Barry is also very involved in music ministry in and around Birmingham.







Joe Terry
Joe Terry plays guitar and among his credits are performances with The Drifters, Wayne Perkins, Percy Sledge and Rock Killough. Joe also sings background and lead vocals. But, Joe's talents are not just limited to music. Joe produced the documentary on George Wallace for Alabama Public Television some years ago.






Rich Daviston
Rich Daviston plays tenor sax, soprano sax, flute, percussion and helps out with background vocals. Rich has been a mainstay on the regional music landscape for years as an in-demand performer. In addition to his work with Groove Daddy, Rich regularly plays with The Temptations, The Four Tops, The O'Jays, and has performed with Franki Valli, Wayne Newton, and Martha Reeves.






Mart Avant
Mart Avant plays trumpet and fluglehorn. He also, along with Groovedaddy bandmate Rich Daviston, travels North America playing with The Temptations, The Four Tops, and The O'Jays. Mart also stays busy writing arrangements for various bands and ensembles in the Birminham area and around the Southeast.
